Step into a pivotal role as a Financial Accountant at the AA Group, where you'll lead the charge in delivering exceptional financial and accounting services. Collaborate with the Financial Controller to manage accounting, financial reporting, and technical support within our Insurance Finance teams. You'll ensure the highest standards of governance, control, and accuracy for all financial data, safeguarding the integrity of our Insurance accounts. Additionally, you'll be instrumental in maintaining and implementing robust system controls, enhancing both existing and new systems. What will I be doing?
* Supporting the provision of information to enable the completion of month end for the Insurance Division, including ensuring accuracy and integrity of month end numbers and KPI’s, compliance with all accounting requirements and reporting process and achieving all deadlines for both internal and external reporting
* Supporting the internal financial control framework requirements for the Insurance division
* Work closely with the commercial Insurance finance teams & the business to gain a sound understanding of the business and ensure reporting of performance can therefore be challenged, insightful and add value.
* Preparing consistent month end reports (both internal and external) with analysis and insightful commentary on the results (financial, KPI, balance sheet and cashflow). Ensuring the validity, accuracy and integrity of the monthly accounts and processes
* Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring that any differences/issues are identified, reported and resolved
* Preparing financial due diligence reporting and ensuring due diligence principles are adhered to
* Supporting the forecast, budget and five-year plan submissions for the business and updating the planning and consolidation system
* Ensuring the integrity of the financial records and procedures necessary to ensure the consistency, accuracy and reliability of financial results
* Producing Retail Mediation Activities Returns (RMAR) for the FCA and any other regulatory requirements
* Challenge, understand, document and where possible improve all financial processes undertaken within the financial control/ reporting team
* Ensure correct accounting governance and integrity of all controls and recognition processes are adhered to (e.g. revenue recognition, exceptional policies etc)
* Proactively identify continual processes improvements, including automating and aligning reporting
* Liaising with external professional advisors and supporting interim and year-end audit work
* Ad hoc projects and involvement to support the wider Insurance and Group Finance teams.
What do I need?
* Excellent and proven stakeholder engagement
* Experience gained in an accountancy practice environment
* Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience
* Highly numerate with good communication skills, both verbal and written with strong report writing skills
* Experience of working with systems (e.g. SAP, BPC, Trintech) along with good IT skills.
* Advanced Microsoft Office skills – particularly Excel.
* ACA/ACCA/CIMA part-qualified accountant, towards the end of their studying
* Initiative to find solutions and improve ways of working
* Able to work unsupervised and outside defined scope of the role
* Highly accurate, thorough and reliable
* Self-motivated, highly organised and methodical with attention to detail.

* Able to meet tight deadlines and deal with the prioritisation of conflicting requirements
