Finance and Operations Assistant, £27,000, Dorchester - salary is negotiable based on experience
We are seeking a skilled and organised Finance and Operations Assistant to join a family-run engineering business that has recently become part of a larger group. This role offers long-term opportunities for growth and collaboration, making it an exciting time to join the team.
As Finance and Operations Assistant, you’ll play a key role in the business, maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the overall financial health of the organisation.
Our client offers tailored solutions across the domestic, commercial, and agricultural sectors. Their expertise spans resource management, bespoke installations, and system optimisation. With a combination of technical expertise and practical experience, they deliver a wide range of services including maintenance support and innovative project solutions.
Responsibilities:
1. Maintain and update financial records, including ledgers, journals, and bank reconciliations
2. Process accounts payable, receivable, and Bacs payments, and manage payroll processing
3. Prepare monthly financial reports, assist with budget preparation, and support audits
4. Handle phone reception, email communications, and manage stationery/postage
5. Prepare quotes, letters, and health & safety documentation
Qualifications:
1. Experience in QuickBooks and accounts payable processes
2. Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to manage tasks independently
3. Solid numerical and accounting knowledge
4. Effective communication skills, with bookkeeping experience preferred
