Estimator – The Role Working as part of a small team in a North Ayrshire based Engineering and Fabrication company, the successful candidate will be trained to compile estimates of costs to complete projects/jobs for our customers across a variety of sectors including private residential customers, large national industrial companies and local small businesses. Key Responsibilities; • Researching and assessing information • Researching materials, equipment and labour costs • Collating quotes for materials and from sub-contractors • Planning job timescales • To ensure all tender returns meet the client’s requirements • Liaise with colleagues and internal departments to clarify information • Ensure the company is fully aware of the risk and opportunities involved in each tender • Liaison and communications to the potential client during the tender and pre-award periods, including attendance at meetings and technical queries • Preparing and submitting quotations for work • Assisting the Estimator with general duties • Due to the nature of the works, travel and overnight stay will be required • Assist the Engineering and Project management team in developing a standard set of project management principles. Engage with key stakeholders to ensure these principles are accepted and implemented and work to improve existing documentation to meet a consistently high standard. Key Relationships and Contracts; • Reporting directly to Engineering Management • Working closely with: Engineering, Production, Procurement, Store and HSQE Estimator – What we need from you Key Skills & Experience; • Experienced project engineer in a fast-paced environment. • Good sound engineering knowledge and practice. • Previous experience within Project Management roles. • Relevant project management qualification is essential. • High level of understanding engineering drawings and writing technical documents / work instructions from them. • Good communication skills, able to brief staff and customers on progress and next steps. • Problem solving skills, identifying solutions to issues arising or facilitate with the appropriate person. • Commercial and Financial awareness, able to understand project costs and identify efficiencies. • Proficient in Microsoft suite, including MS project and PowerPoint – a good understanding of CAD packages would be helpful, but not an essential part of the role • Able to manage conflicting priorities and communicate cross teams effectively. • Full, Clean UK Drivers Licence Key Skills & Experience (Desirable); • Steelwork Estimating: 2 years (preferred) • Pipework Estimating: 2 years (preferred) If you feel you have the skills and experience to be successful within this role, click on apply today No agencies please
