Detailed Description We are excited to announce faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level in Computational Sciences and Software Engineering for our new Aktobe Campus at Zhubanov University, Kazakhstan. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of computer science education in an international context, as part of a prestigious partnership initiated by Zhubanov University with the support of the President of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. About Heriot-Watt University branch at Zhubanov University Zhubanov University, with the support of the President of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, has partnered with Heriot-Watt University to establish a new HWU campus within Zhubanov University in Aktobe, Kazakhstan. About Zhubanov University Zhubanov Aktobe Regional University is a leading public university in Kazakhstan, located in the city of Aktobe. Founded in 1935 as a multidisciplinary classical university, it has a long and distinguished history in education and research. Key Duties and Responsibilities The Candidate will contribute to the teaching (lectures, tutorials, workshops and laboratories) covering topics in the area of Computational Science and Software Engineering developed by Heriot-Watt University. Supporting undergraduate programmes and other relevant areas by carrying out assessment and moderation of coursework and examination marking as required. Liaising with relevant academic staff at Zhubanov University and Heriot-Watt University and carrying out discipline-related administrative tasks as required. The Candidate will contribute to and develop teaching and scholarship in international higher education learning. Education, Qualifications and Experience Essential Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field from a recognized institution. Strong track record of teaching in one or more of the following areas: Object-Oriented Programming, Functional Programming, Software Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, Web Programming and Networking, Databases, Language Processors, Operating Systems, or Theoretical Computer Science. Excellent communication and organizational skills and a proven ability to work in diverse, international teams. Enthusiasm for adapting to new teaching methodologies and curricula. Demonstrated initiative in teaching and scholarship. Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues across our international partners. Ability to work to deadlines. Desirable Experience in web-based learning, e.g. virtual learning environments such as Canvas, and other educational technology Experience of developing/delivering innovative assessment practice Appropriate academic or industrial experience in an Computer Science and/or Software Engineering.
