We’ll look to you to manage the strategic end-to-end engineering requirements for a business unit.
You’ll be leading teams to meet key strategic milestones by driving vision and having a holistic view of the business.
What you'll do
As an Engineering Director, you’ll be delivering key engineering milestones that support our Banking as a Service strategic commitments. You’ll foster a culture of collaboration and quality to make sure our engineering, security engineering and architecture functions build well-architected, extensible, scalable and resilient banking systems and customer propositions.
You’ll also be:
1. Overseeing the management of your engineering group and acting as the highest authority on high-level and complex decisions within the function.
2. Contributing to the development of a bank-wide engineering strategy and overseeing the execution of plans.
3. Responsible for the software delivery of all engineering teams, collaborating with key colleagues to define roadmap and plans.
4. Developing and coaching colleagues within the engineering business area.
5. Proactively planning for the growth and succession of others as the bank develops.
The skills you'll need
We’re looking for a technical expert with the ability to understand complex technology architectures and secure software development lifecycle. You’ll bring experience of leading large engineering teams in a high-tech finance environment, paired with analytical and quantitative knowledge, and the ability to use data to make decisions.
In addition, you’ll need:
1. Experience of leading change initiatives through your teams, with the ability to collaborate.
2. Technical knowledge relevant to software engineering, such as coding standards, continuous integration or continuous deployment, platform engineering, and operational excellence.
3. Experience of working with different areas of the business and presenting at board level.
4. The ability to operate at a range of levels in terms of big picture strategic thinking, thought leadership and data and analysis.
5. Experience of working in cloud based environments.
6. Experience of leading local and offshore teams.
