We’re looking for a reporter who loves sharing everything there is to know about where to eat, travel and spend free time in Wales (and beyond). As part of our Life Team, you’ll work on a diverse content mix with considerable focus on TV and showbiz news and the latest shopping trends.
The successful candidate will be versatile, fast and capable of writing about popular content that taps into Wales’ and the UK’s biggest conversations. The brief includes reviewing the latest bars, shops and restaurants, to live blogging popular TV show finals and reporting on Welsh celebrities.
You’ll be comfortable putting yourself at the centre of the story, whether it’s writing about your experience of a day out, or testing the latest products and gadgets. You’ll know how to create a TikTok and go live on Facebook.

The role is home and hub based linked to our Cardiff hub, with a requirement to work up to 3 days from our Cardiff hub. You therefore will need to be from Cardiff or the surrounding area.
Job Description
What will the role involve?
As a lifestyle reporter, you’ll be expected to source and tell stories which engage as many readers as possible. You’ll be on top of the TV shows being watched and celebrities being talked about at the times those conversations are happening, as well as preparing for them in advance.
An important part of your role will be helping to grow WalesOnline’s affiliates revenue by writing eye-catching shopping content. You will generate great ideas that showcase what’s on around Wales, such as the best places to stay and visit.
You will tell stories in many different ways, including (but not limited to) real-time live blogs and broadcasts, articles, videos, audio and pictures. We are looking for candidates who are great at creating brilliant video for social media channels. You will be comfortable appearing in front of the camera as well as editing and producing.
Qualifications
Who are we looking for?
A NCTJ or equivalent qualification and media law knowledge is desirable. You have the ability to be bold, self-assured and to be comfortable meeting people face to face and develop a strong contacts book.
We are looking for candidates with excellent writing and communication skills and a passion for the sector. You will ideally have experience in content writing with a strong understanding of audiences and social media platforms.
We are looking for people with creativity, great attention to detail and adaptability. It’s important to note that to succeed in this role, you must be comfortable working to targets and deadlines. A driving licence is preferable.
