Middle School History Teacher
This is a full-time, exempt position within the Middle School reporting to the Head of Middle School. This will be a full-time position beginning August 15, 2025. The ideal candidate will assume the responsibilities and possess the qualifications as indicated below.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Teach five sections of Middle School History; there is a possibility for one or two of the sections to be in the Upper School.
2. Act as an advisor and be committed to playing an active role in the Middle School community.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must:
1. Share a deep passion for history.
2. Commit to teaching and exploring diverse perspectives of content and creating an equitable and inclusive learning environment.
3. Have excellent knowledge of current trends in the subject area.
4. Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop a curriculum focused on hands-on, inquiry-based learning that encourages students to think deeply and creatively.
5. Have experience creating authentic formative and summative assessments.
6. Be comfortable using technology and incorporating it into teaching.
The ideal candidate will display:
1. Maturity, collegiality, flexibility, humor, and commitment to positive growth.
2. Excellent speaking and writing skills.
3. Experience teaching History in a middle school setting.
4. BA in history or related field (advanced degree preferred but not required).
5. An appreciation for the unique qualities of the typical young adolescents found in middle school settings.
6. A willingness to employ differentiated instruction to meet learners at their level of need.
