About Barton Moss
Barton Moss is a twenty-six bed Secure Care Centre located in Eccles on the outskirts of Salford in Greater Manchester within easy reach of the M60 and wider motorway network. We care for remanded and sentenced young males under the age of 18 years.
The centre has a proven track record of offering a very high standard of emotional, educational, and physical care. This supports young people to succeed in their personal and academic development and return to their community. Our school offers a curriculum based on core and vocational subjects and seeks to ensure pupils receive externally accredited qualifications.
Our school has a mix of qualified teaching staff, Higher Level Teaching Assistants, and Teaching Assistants. We are assisted by our health and residential colleagues to support young people during their time at the centre. This provides an exceptional opportunity for young people to make progress and to ensure they have a wealth of opportunities that can prevent re-offending. The school offers a 50-week curriculum, although teaching staff are covered by teachers' pay and conditions, the school terms are slightly amended to facilitate this. Changes to school terms include a four-week summer holiday with two weeks at October half term and two weeks at February half term.
