The purpose of this post is to work effectively as a member of a team to support in the delivery of a high quality, safe and balanced education and care service, which meets the needs of each child and their families and is in accordance with relevant legislation and guidelines including the Roles and Responsibilities Framework of the Scottish Social Service Council for the Childcare Workforce.
The post holder may be required to work in an early learning and childcare setting and an out of school club during the course of the day. The post holder may support children aged 2 - 5 years old in the early learning and childcare setting and will support school aged children in the out of school club.
The main duties of the Support Worker are:
* To work effectively as a member of the team.
* To work closely with the Manager/Lead Practitioner and Practitioner in developing and implementing experiences that meet the needs of all the children and are linked to the national guidelines.
* To interact effectively, enthusiastically and appropriately with children to meet their individual education and care needs.
* To promote and value each child and support their welfare, including their personal, social and emotional wellbeing.
* To comply with relevant legislation, guidelines and procedures relating to learning, care and health and safety including Child Protection procedures and Health and Safety guidelines and risk assessments.
* To contribute to the provision of a range of developmentally appropriate learning activities, in line with local and national advice and guidance including planned and spontaneous play activities, real life experiences and outdoor learning.

Additional Information
* The grade of this post is F.
* Salary shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £2,859 per annum (pro rata).
* Permanent Full Time post for 37.0 Hours per Week, 52.18 weeks per year.
* Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made.
* The successful candidate will have to complete registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) when they begin in post.
