Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by clinical leads and GPs. Such tasks include: Conduct chronic disease management clinics, including diabetes, asthma, COPD, and hypertension. Perform cervical cytology (smear tests) and provide sexual health advice. Administer vaccinations and immunisations, including childhood and travel vaccines. Provide wound care, including dressings and suture removal. Conduct health checks and screenings. Urinalysis Spirometry Phlebotomy Ear Irrigation Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician Requesting pathology tests long term condition management Following agreed clinical protocols as appropriate Processing of samples Other tasks will include: Clean and sterilise equipment as appropriate Maintaining stock and rotating items as required Participation in health campaigns, e.g. flu campaign Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses rooms Maintaining and ordering health promotion literature At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records Ordering of vaccination to maintain stock levels Participate in administrative systems in the Practice A duty to advise clinical leads and the Practice Manager of potential problems or errors within range of assigned tasks Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post Undertake annual training and demonstrate competency in anaphylaxis and resuscitation techniques Special requirements of the post: An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality Ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness and common sense A commitment to maintain a high professional standard of nursing care and keep up to date with all aspects of nursing care relevant to the post A commitment to ensure all Health and Safety requirements and Infection Control measures are met and to report any problems to the Practice Manager A commitment to the effective use of practice and NHS resources An awareness of own limitations and experience To work in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct and within the scope of professional practice To maintain revalidation portfolio as a requirement of registration with the NMC Cooperate with annual appraisal meetings and practice development
