Job Title: Shipping Logistics Manager - Afternoon Shift Salary: £39,900 - £48,000 depending on experience - plus 20% Afternoon Shift Premium Hours: 37.50 Monday - Wednesday: 16:30-02:30, Thursday 16:30-02:00 Location: Desford, Leicestershire The Opportunity As a Shipping Logistics Manager, you will be you will oversee shipping operations to maximise efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness while ensuring safety and motivating employees to meet targets. What you will do As a Shipping Logistics Manager, you are accountable for, but not limited to: - Ensure a safe and clean shipping environment by monitoring and eliminating unsafe operations. - Supervise daily activities of shipping workers, assign tasks, coordinate teams, and monitor performance. - Liaise with Caterpillar Transport Organisation to secure shipping capacity and meet contractual delivery dates. - Suggest improvements in working conditions and equipment usage to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. - Communicate with freight companies, production departments, and customers to ensure timely product shipments. - Oversee staff training, development, timekeeping, task assignments, and adherence to organizational standards. What You Can Demonstrate - People: Lead, motivate, evaluate, and recognise employees. Identify skill gaps and training needs to build high-performing teams and talent pipelines. - Safety: Proactively manage safety standards, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Foster psychological safety and team engagement through open communication and collaboration. - Planning and Organizing: Plan and organise tasks and resources systematically to ensure timely and efficient completion of work. - Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve product quality and production methods to enhance processes, products, and services. What You May Have: - Have supervisory experience, ideally in a shipping or supply chain environment. - Build positive relationships within and outside the department with strong interpersonal skills. - Be proficient in Microsoft Office products. - Have experience in strategic planning. - Familiarity with import/export processes, including customs and transit regulations, is a plus.
