The Office of Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) supports the Police and Crime Commissioner serving Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The OPCC provides a link between Hampshire & Isle Wight Constabulary (HIOWC) and the communities they serve through setting the budget and holding the Chief Constable to account in the delivery of an efficient and effective service.
We are currently recruiting for a Performance and Research Officer to work within a small team and undertake research in support of the OPCC’s approach to evidence-based crime, policing and community safety performance.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Performance and Research Officer to join our team at the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. This role plays a key part in providing research and analytical insights to support evidence-based decision-making on crime, policing, and community safety.
As part of a small team, you will work on research projects, data analysis, and performance evaluations to inform policy, funding bids, and strategic initiatives. You will also engage with stakeholders, including local authorities, research bodies, and the community, to gather insights and present findings.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct research and analyse data to support crime and policing strategies.
* Produce reports and evidence-based recommendations for the Police & Crime Plan.
* Evaluate projects and identify best practices for continuous improvement.
* Develop surveys, undertake focus groups, and present findings to key stakeholders.
* Utilise Power BI and other analytical tools to generate insights.
* Provide briefings to senior leaders and the Police & Crime Commissioner.
* Support public consultations and partnership engagements.

About You
We are looking for a candidate who has:
* A-Level qualification (or equivalent) or relevant work experience in research and analysis.
* Strong analytical and statistical skills with experience in research methodologies.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using data analysis tools such as Power BI or willing to learn.
* The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* A proactive approach with a passion for improving community safety and policing outcomes.
