Job Title: Scientific Technologist
Contract: 24 Month Contract
Salary: £19 per hour
Location: Bracknell, Jealotts Hill
Job Overview: Candidate is expected to have basic knowledge and understanding of physical chemistry, preferably of small organic crystals. This role will be laboratory-based and involve the use of a variety of solid-state techniques for crystallising and characterising small organic molecules of active ingredients.
Typical Techniques Used:
1. Gas and/or liquid chromatography
2. Powder x-ray diffraction (pXRD)
3. Raman and light microscopy
4. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC)
5. Other thermal methods
Training on these techniques can be provided where needed, as the candidate is not expected to be proficient in the use of all the techniques listed above.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide technical and experimental support to the process engineering and particle science groups in the process studies group at Jealotts Hill.
2. Improve and develop manufacturing processes for new and existing products via technical understanding to support manufacturing plants and projects in meeting business targets.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical or Process Engineering.
2. Experience with any of the following analytical techniques would be beneficial: DSC, TGA, XRD, SEM, NMR, HPLC, and GC.
3. Experience with powder handling, crystallisations, and wet chemistry would be beneficial.
