The Opportunity: Smurfit Westrock is seeking a dynamic and driven Key Account Manager to join our team. The successful Key Account Manager will find and developsales from new customers and to maintainand develop sales from existing customers in the UK in the market sectors we choose to serve.
Activitieswith customers outsidethe assigned regionare possible where the accountresponsibility involves multinational customers.
This role is responsible for:
Establishing a robust, multi-level rapport with existing customers with the goal of raising entry barriers to competitive suppliers penetrating the customer(Supply, Packaging, Quality,Production, Technical, Marketing, Maintenance, Procurement) and to identify all opportunities to increase business levels with him.
Generatingleads and following them up to establish contactswith potential new customers.
Preparingtargeted commercial proposalsmaximizing the profitability to Smurfit Westrock, to present them effectively to the customer and then ensure comprehensive follow up;
Organizingand running multi-functional meetings/teams at customers as well as internal Smurfit Westrock project teams when commercially required to manage and develop a customer account;
Negotiating with customers in order to maximize the positive impacton the Smurfit Westrock business.
Preparingand maintaining internalsales systems, notablyforecasting and core key account planning tools, to a high level;
Coordinating and managing the total relationship between the customer and Smurfit Westrock – working with internal management, carton design, customer service, plant and its internal services (quality, planning, logistic, production), engineering (PSC and fieldservice), S&OP and ultimately suppliers, to ensure a common high level of professionalism and commitment to the customer;
Skills/attributes/minimum qualifications:
3-5 years experience in equivalent sales role
Packaging environment experience desirable
Experiencein medium/long-cycle sales of capitalvalue, non-commodity solutions, to both blue-chip and smaller customers;
With professional statureand ability to gain customercredibility.
Self-motivated, persistent, and entrepreneurial.
Logicaland analytical - able to develop, structure and present salesand negotiation argumentsat all customer hierarchy levels;
Ability and desireto network.
Abilityand desire to listen to customers and identify customers’ needs.
Ability to work independently – without needingsupporting services/personnel but understanding the need to communicate internally (i.e., a team player who doesn’t need a team to do their job);
Multi-skilled – a salesperson who is technically literate, experienced with marketing, commercially astute and able to communicate in a professional manner.
Computer literate with the abilityto compose professional presentations and use standard office automation technologies.
Ability to work with technicalmatters to offer a completepackaging system proposal
