About the role:
The Marine Trading Manager will primarily engage with the market, including brokers, current and prospective clients, and industry peers. Responsibilities include driving growth strategies, managing portfolios, developing new business channels, and mentoring junior staff. Success is measured by pipeline delivery, growth in GWP and profit, positive stakeholder relationships, and fostering a strong team culture.
The role offers significant opportunities for technical development and career progression.
You will be accountable for:
* Aligning business activities with plan requirements for Marine insurance.
* Achieving targets for volume, quality, and profitability of growth opportunities.
* Building and maintaining relationships with brokers and clients.
* Managing risks and ensuring compliance with strategic and governance standards, including metrics for GWP, NWP, Loss Ratio, Expense Ratio, and Rate achievement.
Desired skills and experience:
* Strong underwriting experience in cargo and freight liability risks.
* Proven ability to manage an underwriting portfolio and monitor key metrics.
* Excellent relationship-building skills with brokers and industry contacts.
* Confidence in negotiations and articulating ideas clearly.
* Results-driven with effective planning and prioritization skills.
