We exist to help our farmers optimise soil fertility and productivity to run their businesses in a profitable and sustainable way with a focus on lowering environmental impact. Beyond fertiliser, we provide nutrient management services, technical advice and essential farm inputs delivered how, where and when they are needed by our customers.
About the Role
Reporting through to the Works Manager, you'll be responsible for planning, leading and directing the activities of the manufacture and acid plant teams in order to safely achieve or improve target levels of production, quality and cost control.
Key responsibilities:
* Visible leadership, maintaining a high level of performance and setting the safety benchmark
* Leading our people to help them be the best they can be and ensuring their development
* Monitor costs and ensure the delivery of product is cost effective.
* Continuously finding opportunities and working with both process and maintenance teams in their implementation to improve efficiencies
* Enhancing productivity in a timely manner whilst ensuring compliance with all environmental obligations and resource consents
* Creating and executing an operational plan to ensure consistent chemical and physical quality of every granule manufactured
* Liaise with other sites to benchmark and optimise the manufacturing process.
About you
You'll have operational expertise with a focus on safety, environmental aspects and process efficiency. You will lead by example, promoting safe and positive behaviours through hands-on management. Your communication style provides clear expectations and direction.
Work collaboratively with the onsite team to ensure the timely completion of scheduled maintenance and project tasks. By leveraging your innovative skills, you will identify opportunities to enhance efficiencies and staff productivity while improving the overall service quality provided to customers.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:
* A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. technical/mechanical qualification)
* Demonstrated management/leadership experience
* Manufacturing or chemical process experience
* Experience in the bulk materials industry
* Experience in work planning and project management
* Financial experience around forecasting and cost centre management
* Experience working with collective agreements advantageous
* A high level of computer literacy
