ST3-7 Trust Doctor in Obstetrics and Gynecology

We are looking to appoint full time or part-time ST3-7 (or equivalent) Obstetric and Gynaecology Registrars on a 10-month, fixed-term basis to support the O and G medical team at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. This job would suit someone with relevant UK experience who is looking to further their career in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Main Duties of the Job
The successful post holder will work across Obstetrics and Gynaecology covering all aspects of acute theatre and OPD services.
CHFT provides maternity and gynecology services for a diverse population of women across the Halifax and Huddersfield geographical area, which is both urban and rural in nature with areas of high deprivation. The service has a birth rate of approximately 4,300 births per annum and offers the following birth options:
1. Home Birth
2. Midwife led birth centre
3. Consultant led care on the labour ward (LDRP)
The free-standing birth centre at HRI remains suspended.
We have a 31-bedded combined ante/postnatal ward with 8 designated transitional care beds/cots and are supported by a 20-cot level 2 NNU. The Gynecology service has a large outpatient service on both sites and an inpatient ward on the Calderdale site.
Job Responsibilities
Main responsibilities include contributing to an on-call rota (team A and team B), supporting theatres, antenatal clinics, and gynae clinics, as well as acute daytime activity including the Maternity Assessment Centre.
Person Specification
* MRCP or equivalent
* Applicants must be registered with the General Medical Council and hold a Licence to Practise
Experience and Achievements
* Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in all aspects of the Obstetrics & Gynaecology specialty
* Must have a minimum of 1 year experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
* Understanding of current issues within Obstetrics & Gynaecology and the future direction of the specialty
* Understanding of current issues within the wider NHS
* Attendance at a recognised management course
* Ability to work with and lead others across professions
Teaching and Training
* Experience of and enthusiasm for clinical teaching of postgraduate doctors and non-medical staff
* Evidence of academic achievements and familiarity with research methods which have resulted in publications
* Training in clinical and educational supervision
* Attendance at a teaching course
* Formal qualification in teaching/education
Audit and Research
* Knowledge of audit principles and evidence of participation in and completion of audit projects
* Critical appraisal skills
* Evidence of knowledge of research methodology
* Good communication and empathy skills with patients
* Evidence of willingness to participate in a multi-disciplinary team environment to provide an integrated service
* Ability to work as a member of a team, both through communication and sharing workload
* Ability to manage high-pressure situations, e.g., clinical crisis
* Ability to prioritise and organise workload and co-ordinate staff
* Ability to integrate the care of a patient by many and various other clinical staff
* Willingness to work flexibly to deliver clinically effective and cost-effective healthcare
Practical/Intellectual Skills/Personal Qualities
* Eligibility to work in the UK
* Ability to work in various locations throughout the network of services provided by Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust
* For areas requiring EPP Clearance (Exposure Prone Procedures), this will also be a requirement of the health screening
* An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required with the Disclosure and Barring Service
* Evidence of continual learning and development
* Understanding of self (strengths and weaknesses) and impact of behaviour on others
* Evidence of innovation

Salary: £55,329 to £63,152 a year depending on experience.
