Pulse are looking to hire a Technical Writer on a full time, permanent basis. Based at their facility in Wokingham.
The Technical Writer will work alongside engineers (mechanical, project, and systems) and other technical writers to document the details of system design, equipment testing, equipment operation, qualification, system installation / commissioning, proposals, software and user manuals. The successful candidate will be able to establish the core content of key project documents.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Standardize documentation
* Create a documentation library
* Compose instructional documents on required topic
* Move step-by-step through different topics with engineers, taking notes and photographs for new documentation along the way
* Maintain consistent style and formatting defined by detailed templates
* Promptly and clearly escalate issues and questions verbally and/or via email during documentation drafting
* Support project managers in maintaining up to date documentation schedule
* Work from a bullet-point list provided by other team members to generate a coherent set of documents.
* Be able to comprehend high level technical information, such as diagrams, so as to accurately describe them throughout the document (e.g. for installation or operation manuals).
* Be able to summarise information generated by the installation teams within the Company in order to create representative installation reports following the completion a system installation.
Requirements
* 2-3 years of report/technical writing experience
* Relevant engineering degree or equivalent
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
* Familiarity with technical writing to be able to quickly capture information with notes, recordings, and photographs
* Proficient in English grammar - reading and writing
* Able to demonstrate an ability to interact with multiple teams at a time (e.g. across different fields such as electrical or software)
