Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Caterham, Surrey
Hourly Rate: £12.31 - £13.16 per hour
Salary: £21,995.67 - £23,514.45 annually, based on experience and qualifications, plus a £1,000 Welcome Bonus*
Hours: 40 hours per week, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, with flexibility required, including staying until 5:00 pm once a week for staff training and meetings. Term time only.
Start date: January 2025

This SEN school in Caterham, Surrey, is a specialist learning centre currently seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant. The school supports young people aged 11-16 with communication and social interaction difficulties, often associated with Asperger’s Syndrome, Autism, and challenging behaviours. Thid education centre is closely linked to a local SEN school in the same Trust, sharing the same Principal and Head of School. While each site has its own team of Assistant Heads, Teachers, and TAs, staff and students often interact between sites, promoting a cohesive and supportive learning environment. Additionally, a comprehensive therapy team is available on-site to support both students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
Build a warm, caring, and supportive relationship with pupils to ensure they feel safe and are able to enjoy and engage in their learning.
Promote and encourage independence and personal development among students.
Assist the Class Teacher in all aspects of classroom management and daily activities.
Adapt to the evolving needs of the school, stepping in to assist with various tasks as needed to ensure smooth operations. This may occasionally include physical intervention, for which full training will be provided.
Support the cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical, and spiritual development of students.
Candidate Requirements:
Essential: GCSE Maths and English qualification, minimum Grade 4 or equivalent.
Desirable: Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification.
Desirable: Experience working in a special school environment.
Desirable: Team TEACH Training.
