You will join the team as a permanent Apprentice Technician and complete a Safety, Health and Environment Technician level 3 apprenticeship in a specified timeframe and gain on the job knowledge and experience. To note the apprenticeship program itself will be delivered by a third party provider, all learning will be completed on our site/remotely so there will be no requirement to attend any other locations for study. Responsibilities To be committed to completing the apprentice training to obtain the Safety, Health, and Environment technician level 3: advanced apprenticeship. To undertake learning and training alongside (and supervised by) a qualified member of staff in all aspects of Health and Safety including: Provide general administrative services to the health and safety team to include filing, data entry, typing and assisting in the management of communications, paperwork, training materials, meetings. Supporting the organisation to meet compliance against the relevant health and safety related standards and legislative requirements. Assist in the implementation of SHE inspections and monitoring systems demonstrating the balance between enforcement and internal support. Assist in the investigation of accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences, near misses and other incidents as directed. Learn appropriate methods for identifying, evaluating and controlling hazards relevant to the workplace. Learn how to present and hold an audience’s attention, for example when delivering SHE training, toolbox talks, inductions or presenting data or investigation findings to the workforce or management team. Learn how to update policies, procedures, and systems in line with changes in legislation or best practice and the effective communication of these changes. Learn how to prepare and maintain records relating to safety, health and environmental matters that comply with legal and workplace requirements and are accessible to those who are authorised to use them. Assist the HS Manager in establishing, managing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders such as local authorities, Health and Safety Executive, Environment Agency, Occupational Health, Occupational Hygienists and others as required and directed.
