Our Building Services team are looking for a Shift Fire & Rescue Maintenance Worker to join the team at Derby Hospital. The purpose of the role will be to be part of the shift fire and rescue team in order to ensure the safe landing of H1 and H2 Helicopters. Also to be part of the rescue team for the man safe system located on hospital building You'll:
* Be trained and assessed on competency for Rescue and Fire fighting to a standard as laid down in CAP 786. Which will include first aid, fire fighting systems, CAA rescue procedures and knowledge of Helicopter engineering design
* Be the sole point of contact between the Helideck and the helicopter pilot during all take off and landings and will therefore be the senior person on the Helideck until the FR authorises medical staff and porters to take over for any loading or unloading of passengers.
* Be responsible for daily checks on the Fire fighting equipment and documentation of all checks and movements on and off the Helideck and maintain Helideck.
* Assist on a daily basis the Grounds and Gardens Team to maintain the hospital grounds and to ensure pleasant well kept tidy and clean surroundings. These duties will include external sweeping of paved areas, litter picking in all external areas both hard and soft landscape, emptying of external litter bins, jet washing of main entrance paved areas and external walls, hand weeding site wide including high level roofs and internal courtyards plus any other duties deemed necessary to fulfil a grounds and gardens service.
* Carry out other services such as mechanical and electrical maintenance, breakdowns or upgrade works thus ensuring a seamless service is provided.
* Carry out specified estates operations and maintenance requests, out of normal working hours, backed up with the support and leadership of the Estates Maintenance Worker Higher Level (shifts) after 5pm and weekends.
Knowledge on the rescue procedures for the on site mansafe system
* City and Guilds or similar boiler operator's certificate for steam boilers or at least five years operational experience of steam boilers.
* Background in the operation and maintenance of gas / oil fired steam-raising, MTHW boilers and associated equipment.
* Knowledge of base-exchange water treatment plant.
* Good all round base knowledge of skills such as plumbing, minor electrical works, etc.
