We are seeking a motivated Building Services Technician to join our team, providing an efficient and reliable service; assisting with the maintenance of all plant and related services for biomedical research facilities within Cambridge.
The role holder will support the Building Services Manager with planned and reactive maintenance, installation, and general maintenance services for all plant within the facilities to ensure the provision of a safe, legal, and Home Office compliant working environment that meets good practice standards at all times. This will include maintenance of heating, plumbing, and ventilation systems, maintenance and installation of new often specialist research equipment, along with general building infrastructure repairs. As a result of this, the role holder will be required to have a diverse understanding and skills in plumbing, heating, and ventilation.
You should hold a professional qualification in a relevant mechanical trade (i.e. NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds); however, consideration will be given to applicants with a trade background in building services who are able to demonstrate the appropriate technical competencies with plant and associated mechanical or electrical services. Experience providing Building Services support within a biomedical or laboratory environment would be an advantage. You should be a good communicator with good organisational skills, able to work flexibly to meet changing demands and problem solve where necessary.
Once trained to a suitable level, the role holder will be required to take part in a UBS out of hours call-out list for plant failure, fire, and intruder alarms.
In addition to the base salary stated above, the successful candidate for this post will receive an additional 2.5% supplement to their pay.
