We have a full-time post available for a Band 2 ward clerk.
Woodlands ward is a Paediatric 16-bedded ward with an additional clinical assessment unit for general medical and surgical paediatric patients as well as day admissions. The unit can be busy, and therefore we are looking for someone who can multi-task well and is organised.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
* Liaise with patients on the ward and their family.
* Have an excellent telephone manner.
* Assist all members of the MDT to perform their roles to the best of their ability.
* Assist in arranging discharge plans and follow-up appointments for patients.
* Have an understanding of the hospital systems including PCS.
* Act as a host and receptionist to children, their families, and visitors.
* Demonstrate due diligence whilst maintaining and promoting effective working practices commensurate with the post.
* Maintain confidentiality relating to the welfare and treatment of patients and staff at all times.
* Be flexible to work in different areas within the unit as required.

Person Specification
Education
* 3 GCSEs or equivalent including English at Grade C or above.
* Evidence of continuing development.
* Experience with NHS computer systems.
* Experience with IT.
Experience
* Working with others in a team or alone.
* Previous administration experience.
Knowledge
* Organisational Skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Experience of liaising with different teams.
