Due to the relocation of one of our colleagues, we are looking to recruit an experienced HCA to join our Nursing Team. The successful candidate be supported by our Practice Team which includes Practice Nurses, HCAs, GPs, Administrators, Dispensers and a range of new ARRS roles. We are looking for an experienced and qualified HCA who is friendly and enthusiastic to provide a high quality of care to our patients. The successful candidate will also be confident, have excellent organisational skills, be able to self-manage and be IT proficient. As a patient focused surgery, we are looking for someone with a kind and patient approach and we would envisage the successful applicant would be able to demonstrate: previous experience in a clinical setting, whether in general practice or elsewhere previous experience of comparable HCA work the ability to work well under pressure as part of a rewarding but highly demanding role good organisational skills good IT / computer skills All posts at the practice are worked on an agreed rota, within the core hours of 8.00am to 6.00pm. Main duties of the job Phlebotomy Service Dressing Service including the undertaking and overview of various dressing, of differing levels of complexity and variety commensurate with experience and qualification. With the willingness to develop these skills further with appropriate support etc. Wound Care Service - including the provision of and overview of various wound care, of differing levels of complexity and variety commensurate with experience and qualification. Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly Support the Practice Nurses with the management of chronic disease clinics Carry out BMI checks as directed Act as a chaperone as required and assist GP with minor procedures such as coil fitting IM injections such as vitamin B12 Administer flu vaccinations and other vaccines if appropriately trained Carry out ECGs as requested Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation Monitoring stock control Other administrative and clinical duties that might be required from time to time Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session Ensure fridges are monitored and cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate Person Specification Experience Essential Experience of working within the NHS or Primary Care Experience of working in a GP practice Experience as a Health Care Assistant Awareness of QOF Health Promotion experience Phlebotomy Good communication skills Team player but also able to manage their own workload Strong IT skills Time management skills Dependable, adaptable and flexible Positive outlook Confident, assertive and resilient Willingness to maintain skills and education Good standard of education Care Certificate/qualification Experience of EMIS Vaccine administering qualification
