Role Summary
The Stores Person will be responsible for managing inventory, ensuring the efficient operation of the store, and maintaining accurate records. This role is crucial to the smooth running of our operations, ensuring that all equipment, materials and sundry products are readily available for consumption by the operation.
Job Type: 39-hours per week, optional overtime and weekend work when available.
The role is based within a busy industrial environment, mainly within the stores however off-site activities, such as deliveries will be required. Full PPE is required and provided.
Requirement:
Stores persons are required to ensure there are the required stock levels of equipment, materials, inventory and sundries.
During their daily duties they would attend to deliveries and dispatches, order equipment and materials as requested to do so. Ensure the stores area is in a tidy workable condition with all employee and work task requirements covered by the store's contents. A driving license is essential, and a forklift certificate would be an advantage.
Stores persons have a standard 39-hour week, but overtime and weekend work are available if required.
Their working environment is usually controlled in the stores area but will involve being outside in hot, cold and inclement weather during deliveries and dispatches. Protective equipment such as boots, coveralls, hard hat, gloves, glasses can be required while carrying out their working duties, and will be provided.
They will assist in the implementation of the quality systems by following the Company Policies and Procedures and help to implement and maintain health, safety and environmental standards, working safely at all times to ensure the health and wellbeing of themselves and their fellow workers.
Key Responsibilities:
* Inventory Management:
o Maintain accurate inventory records using inventory management systems.
o Conduct regular stock checks to ensure accuracy and availability.
o Implement inventory control procedures to minimise discrepancies and losses.
o Ensure proper storage of materials.
* Receiving and Dispatching:
o Receive incoming goods, inspect for quality and quantity, and ensure proper documentation.
o Prepare and dispatch items according to internal and external requirements.
o Coordinate with logistics providers to ensure timely delivery and receipt of goods.
* Quality Control:
o Quarantining of materials until QHSE Department has cleared them for production, carry out material records for QC and QA.
* Stock Control:
o Monitor stock levels and reorder supplies as necessary to prevent shortages.
o Identify and address slow-moving or obsolete stock.
* Record Keeping:
o Maintain detailed records of stock movements, including receipts, issues, and returns.
o Generate regular inventory reports for management review.
o Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures in record-keeping.
* Organisation:
o Ensure the store is clean, safe, and well-organised, with items stored in designated areas.
o Implement efficient storage solutions to maximise space utilisation.
o Conduct regular audits to ensure the store's organisation and cleanliness.
* Communication:
o Liaise with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues.
o Provide timely and accurate information to relevant stakeholders regarding stock availability and delivery schedules.
o Address and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to inventory and deliveries.
* Compliance:
o Adhere to health and safety regulations and company policies.
o Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with industry standards and legal requirements.
o Participate in safety training and implement best practices to maintain a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities of the Stores Person will include (but are not limited to):
* Able to confidently use IT systems as part of daily duties.
* Following procedures to check quantity and quality of goods as received.
* Quarantining of materials until QHSE Department has cleared them for production, carry out material records for QC and QA.
* Issuing materials for jobs once processed.
* Issuing materials into stores for employees once received and processed.
* Checking store sheets and monitoring of inventory, pricing store sheets and inputting store sheets into the company database and shared drive.
* Monitoring stock levels of material, equipment, inventory and sundries.
* Completing paperwork and arranging collection of dispatches of returned of completed goods.
* Carrying out stock taking as required.
* Order all PPE and work clothing.
* Working to the highest expected standards at all times while carrying out work tasks.
* Report directly to the operations manager on the progress of stock levels, deliveries and dispatches.
* Work alongside and cooperate with specialists and sub-contractors depending on work task requirements.
* Mentoring and assisting in the training and development of all trade apprentices.
* Following all site personal protective equipment/respiratory protective equipment requirements.
* Maintaining good customer relations.
* Ensure that all work areas are kept clean and tidy.
* Attending any required company and industry training courses.
* Following all company policies, procedures, emergency procedures, risk assessments and method statements.
* Participating in work task toolbox talks.
* Attending time out for safety meetings to discuss any safety issues, changes to procedures or legislation etc.
* Ensuring that quality standards are met in accordance with company policies.
* Attending company occupation health checks and complying with any subsequent requirements of those checks.
* Following and promoting a safe working culture and the company ‘stop the job policy’ to ensure they and all fellow workers are aware of the companies safe working practices.
* To help achieve the zero-accident rate objective by following, promoting and implementing company safe working practices.
* To help achieve the zero waste to landfill objective by following, promoting and implementing company environmental policies.
* Assisting in the implementation and upkeep of all company ISO standards.
Additional Duties:
* PPE Management: Order and distribute personal protective equipment and work clothing.
* Assist in implementing and maintaining company ISO standards.
* Promote a safe working culture and support the company's zero-accident and zero-waste objectives.
* Training and Development: Mentor and assist in training apprentices.
Qualifications:
Essential: Valid driving license.
Experience: Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
Skills: Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Knowledge: Familiarity with inventory management systems and basic computer skills.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy items, and perform physical tasks as required.
