My client is a leading manufacturer of specialist coatings for industries from oil and gas, and petrochemical to renewable energy.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Development Chemist to join our client's R&D team. Reporting directly to the Technical Manager, you will be responsible for contributing to the development and improvement of an innovative and well-established product range.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct laboratory experiments and investigations into new product formulations, product optimisation, and competitor analysis.
2. Analyse and interpret data, prepare reports, and present findings to the team using instruments like Rheometers and Extensometers.
3. Support Production, Quality Control, and customer-facing departments.
4. Assist with the development and maintenance of quality and environmental management systems (ISO 9001 and ISO 14001).
5. Contribute to a safe and efficient laboratory environment.
Qualifications:
1. BSc/MSc in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related scientific field.
2. Experience in a laboratory environment.
3. Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint).
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
5. Excellent spoken and written communication for writing reports and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Skills:
1. Knowledge of corrosion protection and surface coatings.
2. Experience with relevant industry standards (ASTM, ISO, NACE).
3. Experience with laboratory equipment such as rheometers, extensometers, and impactors.
