The purpose of the role of a General Practice Nurse is to implement health promotion and disease management strategies and to provide a full range of Nursing services to the patient population. Main duties and responsibilities are: To provide health care and advice to patients both face to face and via the telephone Undertake vaccinations in accordance with local and national guidelines ( Patient Group Directives) Carry out screening, e.g lipids, blood pressure checks, cervical smears etc. Carry out clinics in line with current competencies and qualifications e.g. management of diabetes,hypertension,asthma,warfarin,contraception etc Provide travel health advice and administer appropriate travel vaccinations Deliver general nursing duties e.g, dressing, wound care removal of clips and sutures Record consultations in the clinical system EMIS and use of DOCMAN to view clinical correspondence relating to patients Check drug fridges on a daily basis and record temperatures, use of data logger to download fridge temperature information as per CQC guidelines Attend and participate in monthly Nursing Team Meetings
