Clinical Practice Provide nursing leadership to all clinical staff within your area of responsibility and provide advice relating to clinical interventions, policies, service development and delivery. Be a key member of the management team and be responsible and accountable for providing a high quality service to patients and key stakeholders across the division. Support and encourage multi-disciplinary working, which focuses upon patient pathways, ensuring the smooth transition of the patient through the care process including facilitating the movement of patients through care locations, to ensure patients experience a positive experience and are cared for within an optimum time frame. Support the clinical teams to work in partnership with individuals, families and carers, using a range of assessment methods as appropriate, undertaking and/or interpreting diagnostic tests, and conducting health needs assessments. Ensure that patient care is evidence based, monitored and evaluated, instituting appropriate improvement when required, in order to provide high standards of care to all patients. Maintain professional competence, authority and credibility by visiting the wards/ departments on a regular basis, undertaking clinical sessions and being highly visible to patients, carers and staff, actively seeking feedback about the quality of services. Co-ordinate and lead projects in clinical practice development exploring appropriate models to support best clinical practice. Ensure ward/department managers take personal responsibility and accountability for Infection Prevention and Control practice within their sphere of responsibility. Be responsible for ensuring that standards of environment cleanliness are in line with National standards and lead on infection control issues within your areas. Manage any short fall in service provision. Lead on cleanliness improvements, working with all disciplines and facilities staff to improve standards of cleanliness and reduce infection rates. When required, participate in case discussions and multi-disciplinary team meetings, liaise with inter hospital departments/personnel across organisations and professional boundaries. Be conversant with trust policies, procedure and systems for safeguarding including the assessment of Mental Capacity, the process for consideration requests for Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS) and the application of the principles of Prevent (counter terrorism awareness). Provide advice and support to clinical staff in implementing policies and procedures. Have accountability for the correct administration and custody of medicines according to the trust policy to include the safe administration of medicines, controlled, intravenous and cytotoxic drugs. Support the development of health education/promotion strategies/patient information in order to improve the patient experience. Use professional judgement to intercede and act as advocate for patients to ensure a patient focused approach to the delivery of care.
