Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: $35-$40/hour base salary. OT paid out after 40 hours at 1.5 x hourly rate. Approved Sundays or Stats paid at 2 x hourly rate. 3% Employer Matching RRSP
Key Responsibilities:
Collaboration and Planning:
* Lead collaborative efforts with the mechanical design department to enhance manufacturability and machining efficiency.
* Uphold and evolve BOS standards, actively seeking opportunities to drive enhancements and presenting innovative ideas to the Machine Shop Manager.
Technical Machining and Quality Control:
* Manufacture precision one-off parts on vertical CNC milling machines.
* Responsible for own part inspection and quality control.
* Utilize Mastercam to program high-speed machining toolpaths.
* Select the correct tools for different machining operations and suggest additional tooling and workholding to improve efficiency when required.
* Guide and mentor junior machinists and apprentices in technical machining practices, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
Project Execution and Optimization:
* Take initiative in project planning, providing leadership and direction to ensure optimal outcomes.
* Be responsible for preventative maintenance on the equipment you run and bring any concerns to the Machine Shop Manager.
* Foster a culture of safety by maintaining a tidy, organized workspace and adhering to all safety protocols.
About You:
Education & Experience
* Licensed 429A General Machinist or 430A Tool and Die Maker.
* Proven leadership experience as a Tool & Die Maker/Machinist or CNC Operator in a machine shop or similar environment.
* Proficiency in Mastercam or similar programming software.
* Strong proficiency in English (both written and spoken).
* Experience in project management or leading complex machining projects.
* Ability to analyze mechanical drawings and collaborate effectively with engineering teams.
* Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior team members.
* A commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards.
* Excellent problem-solving skills.
* Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to get to work each day through public or personal transit.
* Must possess own tools.
