My Local Authority client in London is looking to source an experienced Ecologist to work as the Council Biodiversity & Natural Capital Officer. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a very busy local authority in London.
Responsibilities:
1. Take a key role in the conservation and enhancement of the Council's biodiversity and approach to natural capital.
2. Be responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring, and review of the Council's approach to Biodiversity Net Gain (including identification and development of potential habitat banks) and relevant parts of the emerging Local Plan.
3. Co-ordinate the borough's input into the London Local Nature Recovery Strategy.
4. Provide advice on biodiversity, ecology, and nature conservation issues affecting planning policy, development, and land use.
5. Support implementation of the Council's Climate & Nature Strategy.
6. Work collaboratively with other service areas, including parks and public realm management teams, and external partners to ensure effective management of key Council-owned sites.
7. Co-ordinate delivery of biodiversity and natural capital enhancement projects.
Hybrid working is available for this role; however, the council requires you to be in the office and conduct site visits for 2 days per week.
