Job Title: Scientist - Materials Characterisation Team Job Purpose: We are seeking an enthusiastic scientist to join our Material Characterisation Team, which provides advanced analytical support to Pfizer's Global Supply Network. You will be responsible for leading technical projects and investigations, involving the design and execution of laboratory experiments, advanced data interpretation, and customer communication. This support will be crucial for troubleshooting investigations, supplier change evaluations, and the development of second-generation API processes. The projects will include diverse data sets, primarily focused on solid-state characterisation methods, including thermal and solid-form characterisation. Key Responsibilities: Lead technical projects and investigations. Design and execute laboratory experiments. Interpret advanced data and communicate findings to customers. Collaborate with colleagues from other sites, external suppliers, and other center function groups in the Global Technology, Engineering & Launch organisation. Maintain high safety standards in laboratory areas, including maintenance and repair schedules and colleague training. Provide instrument training to novice users and deal with instrument engineers for planned and unplanned maintenance. Multi-task and react to changing priorities and short timelines. Required Skills and Experience: Practical laboratory experience with particle characterisation and solid-state characterisation techniques, including method development, troubleshooting, and performing validation testing. In-depth practical experience and theoretical understanding of solid-state methods, including thermal techniques such as Thermal Gravimetric Analysis, Differential Scanning Calorimetry, STAIR, and water activity. Experience in polymorphic form identification and troubleshooting form conversion of hydrates and solvates (Dynamic Vapour Sorption, Powder X-Ray Diffraction). Proven experience in the evaluation of data validity and interpretation of results in the context of specific investigation needs. Experience in compiling results into presentations and technical reports and effectively communicating these results to customers external to the team. Scientific and project leadership, working with minimal interaction from a supervisor around planning and prioritisation of workload. Education: Degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, etc.).
