Description
Systematica Investments Limited (acting as general partner of Systematica Investments LP) is a Jersey-based hedge fund manager with c.US$16 billion assets under management (AUM) across a diversified range of trading strategies. Systematica Investments has a global presence with offices in Jersey, Geneva, London, New York, Singapore and Shanghai. The successful candidates will act as the principal point of contact for employees on day-to-day regulatory matters within the UK and will work closely with other members of the Legal and Compliance team globally across the business.
Key Responsibilities
1. Contributing to the establishment and operation of Systematica’s global Compliance programme, liaising with the Senior Management and advising on relevant regulatory matters and good practice within the industry, in order to ensure that Systematica maintains its robust compliance control framework.
2. Supporting and working within the wider Legal & Compliance team of the Systematica Group, based in the UK and other jurisdictions to ensure global compliance across the Systematica Group with all applicable laws, regulations and policies.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
General Duties
1. Conducting trade compliance monitoring across all asset classes traded and implementing system improvements.
2. Overseeing the provision of comprehensive advisory, monitoring and control services to Systematica’s entities.
3. Maintaining the various regulatory registers such as Breaches / Complaints etc.
4. Maintaining, and improving where required, the Compliance Monitoring Programme, Business Risk Assessment and providing Management Information on this to the Board.
5. Oversight of AML related matters such as sanction screening process and reporting on matters arising or omissions and remediation as required.
6. To review customer due diligence and sign off in relation to the existing customers ‘routine review cycle.
7. To review and sign off ‘new customer’ due diligence and ‘trigger event’ customer due diligence as required;
8. Maintaining robust compliance reviews on Systematica’s processes.
9. Monitoring and update of compliance manual, policies, procedures, processes and controls while ensuring consistency within the operation of the business with group standards and any regulatory obligations.
10. Ensuring staff are and remain aware of internal policies and procedures and their obligations.
11. Managing the assessment and acceptance of new business.
12. Encouraging and supporting a compliance culture within Systematica’s offices.
13. Maintaining a thorough awareness of industry best practice and developments in relation to applicable regulatory laws/guidance, (both locally and internationally), including AML obligations.
14. Attending as required, multi-jurisdictional compliance meetings and ensuring that all action points are followed up and dealt with as appropriate.
15. Preparing quarterly compliance reports for the Board of Directors (and any ad-hoc reports as required) and attendance at Systematica’s board meetings as required.
16. Ensuring that the Board is kept apprised of industry best practice and any such developments and changes in regulatory requirements/guidance, and that internal procedures are devised / adapted as required.
17. Ensuring that any regulatory action points are efficiently brought to the Boards attention and that timely progress is made to address / resolve them.
18. To act as the main point of contact with the FCA (and any other applicable bodies) either through correspondence or in the event of any regulatory inspection to assist with any such undertaking.
Experience, Knowledge & Skills
1. At least five years’ experience in a compliance role, in order to understand the complexities and breadth of the role;
2. Experience within an asset management environment and previous trade compliance experience is strongly preferred;
3. Exposure to other regulatory markets, such as the US, Jersey and / or Switzerland is advantageous;
4. Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with all staff at all levels;
5. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a range of competing priorities and projects to tight deadlines;
6. An analytical and methodical mind;
7. Broad and pragmatic thinker;
8. Proficient in MS Office software.
Educational & Professional Qualifications
1. Educated to degree (or equivalent) level or higher, preferably from a leading university;
2. A relevant professional qualification, such as ICA International Diploma in Compliance.
