Our client is looking to bring on a Business Development Manager based in the North West of England.
As a Business Development Manager, you will be the driving force behind new business acquisition, building strong relationships with prospective clients, and representing the client as the go-to provider in the market. This role is a mix of office-based work and time spent on the road meeting with potential customers.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Acquisition
* Identify and target prospective customers, using a combination of cold calling, networking, and leveraging industry connections to the agreed KPI rate.
* Develop and execute strategic plans to acquire new business and meet agreed sales targets.
* Conduct thorough research to understand potential customers needs and align with the clients offerings to address those needs.
* Generate the agreed number leads through field visits, attending industry events, and maintaining a robust sales pipeline.
* Deliver compelling sales presentations and product demonstrations to potential customers, showcasing the value of their products and services.
Relationship Building
* Establish and nurture relationships with key decision-makers within target companies to facilitate long-term partnerships.
* Regularly follow up with potential clients to maintain engagement and move opportunities through the sales funnel in the agreed manner and timeframe.
* Act as a trusted advisor to clients, offering tailored solutions that meet their business requirements.
Sales Strategy & Reporting
* Develop and implement effective sales strategies to maximize territory coverage and achieve business objectives.
* Maintain up-to-date records of sales activities, leads, and opportunities in the CRM system on a daily basis, ensuring organisation and efficiency.
* Provide regular updates to the Sales Manager on sales progress, forecasts, and market insights.
* Collaborate with the marketing team to support lead generation campaigns and promotions.
Market & Competitor Analysis
* Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities and potential challenges.
* Stay informed about industry developments to maintain a competitive edge.
Collaboration
* Work closely with the Sales Support Coordinator to ensure smooth onboarding of new customers and seamless handovers to Account Managers within the agreed SLA.
* Partner with internal teams to ensure customer requirements are met, including coordinating with logistics and technical support teams as required to ensure a quality service is delivered to the customer at all times.
Travel & Representation
* Spend agreed amount of time on the road meeting with prospective customers at their premises.
* Represent the company at trade shows, exhibitions, and networking events to build brand awareness and attract new customers.
Training
* Commit to continually increase knowledge of products and services provided by the client alongside staying up to date with new products, market trends and industry knowledge.
* Demonstrate willingness to learn new skills relevant to the role and desired area for growth and development.
* Engage in all training sessions provided, taking on board required information.
Key Requirements:
* Proven ability to identify and close new business opportunities, with a strong track record in sales.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
* Exceptional negotiation and influencing abilities.
* Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong organisational and time-management skills to handle multiple leads and opportunities effectively.
* Tech-savvy with experience using CRM systems.
* Willingness to travel extensively to meet with clients and attend events.
* Demonstrated success in a business development or field sales role, preferably in the hospitality, or FMCG industries.
* Strong understanding of B2B sales processes and techniques.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Salary:
Up to £32,000 base + Package + Company Car + Bonus (OTE £44K+)
