Job Title: Mechanical Fitter Location: Portsmouth (HM Naval Base) Service Area: Service Delivery, Locks & Docks Hours of Work: 37 Per week What You’ll be doing: An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Mechanical Fitter as part of KBS Maritime Locks and Docks team, where you’ll be carrying out Planned maintenance tasks on all Locks and Docks and Service Delivery mechanical equipment. Whilst developing and maintaining positive, open and honest relationships with the customer, you’ll Support Vessel Movements in and out, docking and undocking evolutions, in addition to Re-active repairs on all Locks and Docks as part of our Service Delivery operations. Working as part of a team alongside mechanical and electrical fitters, you will be carrying out routine planned maintenance, and reactive repairs on but not limited to the waterfront assets, mechanical systems, machinery and high volume saltwater pumps. You’ll Have: Heavy engineering or marine industry Mechanical Fitter turner experience, along with competency in carrying mechanical installations and equipment conform to regulations. You’ll also have extensive experience as a crafts person in the repair, maintenance, installation, testing, operation, and setting to work on a wide range of heavy industrial Salt water equipment and systems. Ideally, you will be prepared to support all outputs and disciplines to achieve KBS Maritime contract delivery requirements and evidence the willingness to work as part of team to deliver customer requirements by supporting KBS Maritime team members and collaboratively work toward achieving KPI targets and customer expectations. About you: You’ll have completed an appropriate trade apprenticeship or Naval equivalent qualifications, and be able to read and understand technical / design drawings and maintenance manuals for the maintenance and repair of assets. With this, you’ll also be capable of utilising manufacturing components using workshop machinery. (Fitter Turner) and be competent in carrying out mechanical fault finding and rectification. By remaining flexible to an ever-changing changing environment, you will employ a customer centric ‘can do’ attitude within the team ensuring that the customer’s needs are met.
