We are looking for passionate learning mentors who to support high risk and complex neurodiverse pupils directly. You will work with pupils in the community (e.g. hubs, training centres or libraries) or in the pupils' home, and provide them with a differentiated and holistic education, supported by educationalists, therapists, social workers and experts in nurturing and therapeutic education.
The school is an independent social enterprise, providing specialist therapeutic education based in London supporting exceptional neurodiverse children and young people aged 7 to 19 who have special educational needs and disabilities typically associated with autism, social emotional and mental health needs and associated disorders. Most of them will have experienced multiple placement breakdowns and significant trauma, often resulting in behaviour that challenges. On average pupils will have been excluded from other provisions up to three times before reaching us and had significant periods out of education.
Essential requirements to be successful in the role are:
Minimum of one years' experience of working directly with high risk and complex pupils in a recognized setting such as social work, youth work or education.
Substantial experience of supporting neurodiverse children with ASC and/or SEMH and an understanding of potential implications for communication, learning and behaviour patterns.
Positive role model, with emotional intelligence and resilience.
