You will be heading up a life-changing youth service in East London, working for an inspiring charity. There is scope for your role to grow and develop, allowing you to take on more responsibilities as you make this role your own. It’s a hybrid role, typically involving 1-2 days working from home and 3-4 days in the office. The service is primarily delivered in Barking & Dagenham, with plans for expansion into adjacent boroughs and beyond.
The youth service you manage operates mostly out of schools and some community locations. You will oversee a team of around 15, including 3 direct reports. The main function of the service is to support young people (typically aged 11-16) who are at risk of serious violence or suffering from, or at risk of, severe mental health issues. The service is delivered mainly in schools but also in community settings. Typically, each youth worker is based in 4 different schools, working one day a week at each school, where they mentor the young people. They also deliver positive activities, which could include football, boxing, or basketball.
You will be responsible for:
* Day-to-day team performance, ensuring youth school attendance of 80% and that key milestones are achieved
* Helping drive the direction of the charity as part of the Senior Management Team
* Overseeing key data and impact reports across the team
* Maintaining regular dialogue with key funders (GLA) and exploring ways to grow and develop the service within adjacent boroughs
* Overseeing and reviewing the budgets of the programme
To apply, ideally, you will have managed a youth service in some capacity. Alternatively, you might have strong management experience within education, social work, or criminal justice.
