Band 6 - Specialist Nurse/Nurse Practitioner
Fixed Term Contract - 6 months
Are you an enthusiastic, confident registered nurse with a background in surgical nursing or pre-assessment who would like to join a small experienced team providing physical assessment, health education and promotion to optimise patients requiring elective surgery? We have new premises and a new senior sister and are excited to expand and develop the team and the service to deliver first-class pre-assessment to the local community.
We have a variety of ways to deliver pre-assessment including face-to-face consultation, virtual clinics, and telephone assessment as well as clinical triage.
We currently work Monday to Friday 08.00 - 18.00 with a vision to expand our opening hours to include weekends and evenings for our local population.
If you would like more information please contact Sister Ali Carless on 01305 257750 or email: Alison.carless@dchft.nhs.uk
Main Duties of the Job
You will be responsible for your own workload, following a supported period of induction and will complete pre-assessment of patients waiting for surgery in dedicated clinic time. There are morning and afternoon clinic sessions including telephone clinics, anaesthetic clinics, and face-to-face clinics.
You will need to be a good timekeeper and be able to keep pace with the demands of the role as we have an increasing number of patients awaiting surgery and pre-assessment.
You must be able to embrace change and development as we plan to implement an electronic pre-assessment system by the autumn.
The pre-assessment team is small with a mix of skilled and novice team members, and it is essential you are positive, professional, enjoy coming to work, and are able to engage with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
