Salary: Lecturer UH7 £37,999 with potential to progress to £45,163 by annual increments. Senior Lecturer UH8 £45,163 with potential to progress to £56,921 by annual increments
Annual Leave: 35 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our offices between Christmas & New Year
Location: College Lane
Main duties and responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for teaching and research in the field of optometry. You will contribute to the design and delivery of learning and teaching materials (including examinations). You will co-ordinate and support the development of modules in degree programmes and undertake the role of module lead whilst liaising with Programme and Year tutors and those in other Subject Groups. You will support students as a personal tutor. For appointments as a Senior Lecturer, you will develop research opportunities and scholarly activity in the field of optometry.
Skills and experience required
Applicants must have a minimum of two years current and continuous registration with General Optical Council as an Optometrist or significant proven experience within the field of UK
Optometry. Relevant teaching and research experience, including contributing to successful research grant awards and/or publications are desirable but not essential. Proficiency in English Language, ability to plan and manage own activities effectively along with relevant IT Skills is essential.
Qualifications required
Minimum of an honours degree or equivalent qualification in Optometry, Vision Science, or a related discipline.
For Appointments at Senior Lecture, higher degree (or equivalent) or a College of Optometrists Higher Qualification or an Independent Prescribing qualification is also required
