A leading Performing Arts venue is looking for a Commercial Director to join their team.
The Role
They are looking for a proactive and technically skilled Commercial Director to spearhead their commercial strategy, boost revenue, and oversee operations. The role centers on capitalizing on business opportunities in the events industry, managing both B2B and B2C sales, and leading a skilled head office team of 10. This position is pivotal in enhancing market presence, building strong client relationships, and driving the venue's commercial success.
Key Responsibilities
1. Revenue Growth & Business Development
* Lead B2B and B2C sales efforts, prioritizing the cultivation and maintenance of relationships with key clients, corporate partners, and individual customers.
* Design and implement strategies to boost bookings for corporate events, private celebrations, and other venue services.
* Explore and establish new revenue streams and partnerships to broaden their client base and market presence.
* Create pricing strategies and tailored packages that attract diverse market segments while maintaining profitability.
2. Team Leadership & Head Office Management
* Lead, mentor, and manage a head office team of 10, fostering a collaborative and high-achieving workplace culture.
* Establish clear objectives and KPIs for the team, ensuring alignment with the company’s commercial goals.
* Offer continuous support, coaching, and professional development opportunities to encourage growth and maximize performance.
* Partner with HR to manage recruitment, onboarding, and talent development, creating a skilled and cohesive team.
3. Financial & Commercial Strategy
* Collaborate with the CEO to shape and execute the commercial strategy.
* Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance analysis to achieve and surpass targets.
* Track market trends and competitor activities, offering insights and strategies to strengthen their market position.
* Deliver regular reports to the CEO and board, highlighting sales performance, challenges, and strategic proposals.
4. Marketing & Brand Development
* Partner with the marketing team to design targeted campaigns that effectively promote events and services to both corporate and consumer audiences.
* Maintain consistent brand messaging and positioning across all platforms to strengthen the venue's reputation as a premier events destination.
* Participate in industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance visibility and attract new clients.
5. Client Relationship Management
* Serve as the main point of contact for high-profile clients, ensuring a seamless and exceptional experience from initial inquiry to event delivery.
* Build and nurture strong client relationships, gathering feedback to refine services and boost client satisfaction.
* Resolve client concerns or issues promptly, upholding a commitment to outstanding customer service.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Experience: At least 7 years in a senior commercial role, ideally within the events, hospitality, or a related industry.
* Sales & Business Development: Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth and expanding business within both B2B and B2C markets.
* Leadership: Proven ability to lead and inspire a diverse team, fostering a collaborative and performance-focused environment.
* Financial Expertise: Proficient in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
* Communication Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation abilities, capable of building strong relationships with high-profile clients and stakeholders.
* Industry Insight: Knowledge of the events industry and market trends, with a strong grasp of best practices in sales and customer experience.
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Hospitality Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
