The Tender Engineer will work to support the business development function by acting as a technical expert and designing automation and control system architecture. The successful Tender Engineer will work closely with the sales team to develop and price bespoke automation and control solutions for energy sector clients, ensuring compliance and profitability through accurate cost assessments across all project stages. Key Responsibilities of the Tender Engineer: Provide technical guidance and develop control system architectures for client projects in collaboration with Business Development Managers. Interpret client specifications and create tailored solutions with accurate cost estimates, managing pricing across all project stages to ensure profitability. Liaise with third-party suppliers, draft subcontractor specifications, and review tender submissions for compliance and value. Prepare detailed proposal documents that communicate key project advantages and align with governance and tendering standards. Conduct site assessments to evaluate technical requirements and maintain strong relationships with technology vendors, staying informed of industry advancements. Experience Required of the Tender Engineer: A minimum of 5 years’ experience within the automation, energy sector, with expertise in SCADA, HMI, PLC, and DCS systems and their technical architectures. Good experience within Software engineering with a solid understanding of the engineering processes used in the development and execution of successful solutions. Strong commercial acumen, particularly within the tendering and pricing processes, ensuring accurate cost allocation across every project stages. Background in industries such as energy, oil and gas, or general automation, with experience collaborating with major OEMs (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider Electric). Ability to produce technically and commercially robust proposal documents within strict deadlines. Familiarity with lifecycle processes, from design and implementation to testing, installation, and commissioning. Basic knowledge of cyber security standards (e.g., ISO 62443) is desirable but not essential.
