We need aSenior Project Manageraspart of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the Cancer Alliance, to drive forward the adoption of transformation and change to improve outcomes for patients andenable successful delivery of the ambitions of the Long-Term Plan for Cancer.

As a Senior Project Manager, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the Cancer Alliance, to drive forward the adoption of transformation and change to improve outcomes for patients. The post holder will support the Senior Programme Manager to deliver key projects in the NHS Long Term Plan and Cancer Alliance plan.
The role supports the business in driving transformation as well as value for money in planning,commissioningand service. The role is designed to build a combination of subject matterexpertiseand technical skills to develop a strong service delivery.
There are 21 Cancer Alliances, responsible for leading the planning and delivery of cancer services and for leading work across their local system to:speed up cancer pathways, diagnose cancer earlier and improve survival, improve patient experience and quality of life, and reduce health inequalities in cancer services.
Somerset, Wiltshire,Avonand Gloucestershire Cancer Alliance (SWAG CA) constituent ICBs are Bristol, NorthSomersetand South Gloucestershire (BNSSG); Somerset; Gloucestershire; Bath,Swindonand Wiltshire (BSW).
SWAG CA is hosted by North Bristol NHS Trust for the purposes of formal employment and the provision of back-office support to the Cancer Alliance.
The post holder is hybrid working with a minimum of 40% office based within the SWAG CA geography.
The post holder willbe requiredto travel across theSouth West.
The post holder willbe responsible for:
• Managing the smooth andsuccessfuldelivery ofcomplexprojectsacrossearly and faster diagnosis,treatmentsand personalised care,including supporting the implementation of strong governance, protocols, and project controls.
• Building internal and external relationships which deliver improvements and efficiencies and work across organisational boundaries.
• Managing the development of policy and strategy for the delivery of key projects
• Developingtransformation projectplans for implementation across the alliance.
• Working with and through Cancer Alliance to effect service transformations for patients.
• Working closely with partner programmes and organisations, to ensure their priorities and deliverables are aligned to the Cancer Alliance’sobjectives.
• Engaging extensively with stakeholders to ensure they are part of the design and delivery of cancer transformation projects.
• Lead the team in the delivery of project plans,allocatingtasks asappropriate,identifyingrisks,issuesand dependencies, considering best practice and current options andultimately makingdecisions in the best interest of the project.
• Pro-actively manage stakeholders, respondtoand resolve conflict when this arises through facilitation or otherappropriate mechanisms.
• Be responsible fora high standard of work supporting the delivery of projectson time, to quality standards and in a cost-effective manner.
• Operate effectively in a flexible and demanding environment and proactively engage with key stakeholders.
• Work effectively with a variety of external consultancies working on other projects and programs within other NHS directorates asrequired.
• Communicates and provideshighly complexinformation to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. (Verbal, written and numerical)
• Nurture key relationships andmaintainnetworks internally and externally.
• Apply a structured change management approach andmethodologyin relation to change management.
• May deputise for the Programme Manager asrequired.
• Budget holder for assigned function/team, budget setting with the Head of Department. Responsible for ongoing monitoring of expenditure against budget and ensuring theappropriate documentationis available for scrutiny.
• To work collaboratively across the Cancer Alliance and wider cancer family to drive improvements in cancer outcomes and experiences for patients and their families.
• To act as a champion for patients and their interests and involve the public and patients in the policy development and decision-making of SWAG CA.
• To create an inclusive working environment where diversity is valued, everyone can contribute, and everyday action ensure we meet our duty to uphold and promote equality.
• To model a collaborative and influencing style of working, negotiating with others to achieve the best outcomes. Embedding this approach across the Cancer Alliance.
