Digital Product Owner Job Description
Reporting to the Head of Projects, the Digital Product Owner will research and determine business needs to create the end-to-end digital customer journey for mortgages and unsecured loans. They will serve as the primary contact between business stakeholders and development teams, driving the development of the digital customer journey product using agile methodologies.
The role involves gathering and documenting requirements, presenting the vision and roadmap, and acting as the voice of the customer throughout the SDLC process. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine feature inclusion and pitch ideas to stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with users and clients to understand and translate their needs into product requirements.
2. Define the vision for the product and create a product roadmap.
3. Develop and document user stories and maps.
4. Lead design workshops to address business requirements.
5. Manage and prioritize the product backlog.
6. Oversee all stages of product development and deliver demonstrations.
7. Monitor and evaluate product progress.
8. Communicate updates with the product team and end-users.
9. Participate in Scrum meetings and sprints, representing the voice of the customer.
10. Define product requirements and coordinate with UI/UX teams.
11. Explain complex issues to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
12. Write UAT scripts and lead the UAT process.
13. Manage expectations and demonstrate product progress to senior management.
14. Support product implementation and communicate value to users.
15. Research competitors and market products.
16. Assist in evaluating and strategizing on product development.
17. Undertake other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience
* Experience leading online customer application projects from inception to delivery.
* 3+ years in a product owner or similar role in software development.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Experience with agile methodologies.
* Strong analytical skills and evidence-based decision making.
* Ability to manage multiple projects under pressure.
* Leadership qualities and change management skills.
* Interest in business development and IT.
* Experience with senior stakeholder engagement.
* Proficiency in documenting requirements and managing sprints.
* Experience with tools like JIRA, DEVOPS, Bizagi/MS Visio, Slack, Google Apps, Balsamiq, Figma, Miro.
* Certified Product Owner and Scrum Master certifications preferred.
* Experience in financial sector (mortgages/loans).
* Degree qualification.
This senior role offers autonomy and requires a highly experienced Product Owner. The position is hybrid, based in Manchester city centre, close to the train station, with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.
