Remote Platform Engineer - £50,000 + Benefits.
We’re on the lookout for a highly motivated Platform Engineer to join our growing DevOps team. You'll play a key role in managing and optimising our cloud-based infrastructure, ensuring ongoing compliance, reliability, and scalability — all while supporting a high-performing development environment.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a technically rewarding role where you'll collaborate closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams, while also guiding junior team members and contributing to long-term infrastructure strategy.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Manage, configure and maintain infrastructure primarily hosted on AWS.
* Build and maintain scripts to automate operational tasks and improve efficiency.
* Monitor and troubleshoot system performance and ensure uptime, availability and security.
* Participate in and improve disaster recovery and backup procedures.
* Support and maintain infrastructure using Terraform and scripting with Bash or Python.
* Operate and monitor the CI/CD process and support developers with pipeline improvements.
* Document system configurations, procedures and technical workflows to ensure knowledge sharing across the team.
* Support software deployment and configuration, manage software assets, and assist with user-facing technical support.
* Collaborate closely with senior engineers, QA, and the wider product team to align technical improvements with business goals.
* Mentor and support junior engineers in areas including Intune, device support, patching, and policy reviews.
What You Bring to the Role
* Solid understanding of cloud platforms with a focus on AWS (Associate certification or equivalent experience preferred).
* Professional experience managing AWS networking and infrastructure.
* Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.).
* Proficient in Bash or Python scripting and confident in Linux system administration.
* Working knowledge of containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes, or ECS).
* Comfortable using version control (Git) and familiar with Agile and CI/CD pipelines.
* Good grasp of networking fundamentals: routing, subnets, firewalls, VPNs, and protocols.
* Evidence of clean code practices, thorough documentation, and structured troubleshooting.
Desirable Skills
* Exposure to MySQL, database basics and common admin tasks.
* Awareness of encryption and security tooling (e.g., SSL/TLS, GPG, SSH).
* Familiarity with SIEM frameworks, ISO27001, and best practices in cloud security.
* Experience using logging and monitoring tools such as ELK, Datadog, or Logz.io.
* Certifications in Linux, Kubernetes, or networking (or a willingness to gain them).
