Job summary The post is for an individual to join the ADVANCE team consisting of research nurses, radiographers, project assistants and admin staff who are based at DMRC Stanford Hall. The post holder will be primarily responsible for the delivery of research imaging, undertaking prescribed general X-rays and DEXA scans (training will be provided) and working with researchers on the post-processing of those images. Main duties of the job Independently perform prescribed core X-rays and Dual Energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scans as per the standard operating procedure (SoP) document. Analyse DEXA images following SOPs and raise any queries to the Senior Research Nurse in a timely manner Participate in and lead image quality/radiation exposure audits within the Radiology environment relevant to the ADVANCE Study. Complete Quality Assurance of the relevant Radiology Equipment and follow the department equipment Fault reporting processes when required. Ensure research images are extracted from the PACS system, pseudonymised, stored and backed up safely. Ensure research images are filed and prepared for transfer for research scoring Work with the ADVANCE data management team to ensure quality checks are performed and maintaining effective data management Attend ADVANCE and DMRC radiology meetings to provide regular updates, reports and disseminate information. Contribute to the day-to-day running of the DMRC radiology department and work flexibly to provide support to the team to cover sickness and absences Prioritise and assess workflow always reacting to the needs and safety of patients and participants About us The ADVANCE study is a longitudinal prospective cohort study that aims to investigate the cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, mental health and other psychosocial outcomes associated with combat injury in a group of 500 injured versus 500 uninjured servicemen over 20 years. The findings on the long-term impact of combat injury on various physiological and psychological health outcomes will help inform and potentially design interventions for this population.
