The successful candidate will be a team member at Geowynd and will be focused on providing the highest quality, high value data for interpretation by the laboratory engineering team. The Principal Geotechnician role will be focused on supervision and execution of advanced laboratory testing, and data processing of same, but other duties will include calibration of equipment, and an active role in the accreditation process, including being audited by external assessors. What you will do: Demonstrating, s upervising, and performin g advanced laboratory testing, including monotonic and cyclic direct simple shear and triaxial testing and resonant column testing; Providing training to junior personnel for execution and processing of the above test types; Process ing test data with the utmost diligence, taking care to ensure the data is as accurate as possible; Ensur ing test programming and tracking software is updated to allow accurate testing progress update s to be provided to clients; Perform ing daily equipment & environmental quality checks throughout the laboratory, informing the Laboratory Technical Manager where anything out of the ordinary or out of specification is found; Supervising and p erform ing equipment calibration s a nd checks, as planned or otherwise required; Taking an active role during accreditation assessments and perform ing verification tests when required to do so; Leading or assisting in the train ing of colleagues as required by the laboratory management; Ensur ing a high level of cleanliness throughout the laboratory facility, and ensur ing the equipment is maintained to the highest standard; Compl y i ng with Geowynd management system policies, practices, programs, and procedures; Support ing Geowynd ’s environmental and social goals. Who you are: A demonstrable experience in the execution and supervision of geotechnical laboratory testing across a range of soil types, including triaxial and direct simple shear testing; Experience in the execution and supervision of laboratory equipment calibrations and checks; The ability to o perate within a team, and at times be comfortable working under your own initiative; An aptitude for mechanical testing. An eye for detail, and the ability to follow written procedures; Competen cy with the Microsoft Office suite of software. Desirable : Experience with performance of internal laboratory audits; Experience with internal or external geotechnical laboratory accreditation processes; Formal health & safety training; An interest in soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering. Salary for the position: Up to £75,000 per annum Salary : The salary varies for this position as we are recruiting in multiple regional locations and job grades. The salary process is based on skills, abilities, and experience required.
