The Senior Site Reliability Engineer at Ansys is responsible for the reliability and availability of systems and services and the infrastructure activities of multiple software products and supporting systems. While automation is a part of SRE, this role is more directed towards ensuring the reliability of systems. SRE's at Ansys use automation to minimize manual intervention and enhance system stability. In this role, the Senior SRE will use advanced technical and problem-solving skills to help the team tackle complex issues, satisfy customer requirements, and accomplish development objectives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Collaborates with others to brainstorm best techniques to resolve complex technological infrastructure, build or packaging problems
2. As a member of the SRE team, you will work with development teams to help create automated pipelines and solutions required for continuous delivery
3. Have a consultant's mindset - you LISTEN, and lead your customers into the goodness of SRE practices
4. Recognize your obligation to the team to elevate the practice of SRE to the highest standard possible
5. Improve predictability and reliability of software releases, workflows, and operating software
6. Reduce complexity and streamline delivery by participating in the creation of and promoting the use of reusable code, tooling, systems, and solution patterns
7. Be anexpert in incident, can quickly identify and resolve incidents to maintain high system reliability
8. Measure and monitor metrics and alarms extensively to ensure the performance and reliability of systems. Decisions should be driven by a data-driven approach.
Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience
9. BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field of study with 5+ years’ experience, MS with 3 years experience, or PhD with 1 year experience
10. At least 3 years of experience with source code version control software (git) and AWS Cloud
11. At least 3 years of working with Terraform with a deep understanding of module creation and best practices
12. Proficient in at least one language used for scripting (, python, perl, ruby, etc)
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
13. Thorough knowledge of software development tools, compilers, and packaging software
14. Extensive knowledge of Linux operating systems
15. Passion for crafting robust and efficient automated build systems
16. Good communication and interpersonal skills
