The Opportunity
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management:
Oversee daily workshop activities, ensuring timely, budget-compliant, and high-quality project delivery.
Monitor productivity and implement improvements.
Maintain accurate records of progress, materials, and costs.
Team Leadership:
Lead and supervise welders, fabricators, and mechanical trades.
Assign tasks, set schedules, and ensure deadlines are met.
Foster a safety-conscious, collaborative work environment.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
Ensure adherence to quality standards and safety regulations.
Conduct inspections and audits to ensure compliance.
Implement corrective actions for non-conformities.
Health, Safety & Environmental:
Promote a safety-first culture and enforce safety protocols.
Oversee equipment maintenance and waste management.
Equipment & Resource Management:
Manage workshop tools, machinery, inventory, and procurement.
Coordinate maintenance schedules to minimise downtime.
Project Coordination & Client Support:
Work with engineers, estimators, and clients to meet project specifications.
Support with job cost and timeline estimates.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement:
Track performance and identify areas for improvement.
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
Key Skills & Experience:
5+ years in a managerial role in a fabrication workshop.
Relevant qualifications in welding, fabrication, or mechanical engineering.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Knowledge of industry standards and safety compliance.
