We are seeking a committed Service Assistant to join our team. Specific duties will be discussed during the interview to ensure they meet our service needs.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Facilities Team Leader, Facilities Staff, Nursing Staff, and, when applicable, Heads of Departments. Guided by the Facilities Team Leader, you will perform a variety of tasks to support our services, with a focus on maintaining cleanliness in essential areas.
Your responsibilities will include cleaning a range of environments such as toilets, bathrooms, patient rooms, ward areas, lounges, offices, meeting rooms, external patios, and the immediate surroundings of entrances, kitchens, and sanitary areas. You will also troubleshoot equipment issues and make necessary adjustments to cleaning schedules.
This position requires you to obtain a food hygiene certificate, as you will be involved in food preparation and cooking tasks.
You will take part in training sessions that cover cleaning techniques, as well as mandatory programs such as Fire Safety, Moving & Handling, COSHH, and Infection Control. Additionally, you will assist with environmental audits to ensure that cleanliness standards are consistently upheld.

Main duties of the job
* Maintain the cleanliness of the unit using a planned and methodical approach to ensure that all areas are thoroughly addressed. This includes cleaning toilets, bathrooms, bedrooms, lounges, offices, external patio areas, and the immediate vicinity around entrances.
* Ensure the safe storage and proper usage of cleaning products in accordance with the Ward Cleaning Schedule and product guidelines.
* Engage in training as directed by the Ward Manager, which will encompass cleaning techniques as well as mandatory training sessions on Food Hygiene, Fire Safety, and Moving & Handling. You will also be encouraged to pursue an NVQ in Housekeeping to expand your knowledge and skills within the ward environment.

Qualifications
* Range of work procedures and practices, base level of theoretical knowledge plus experience relevant to the post. Facilities in-house training program to be completed within agreed time scale.
* NVQ or equivalent relevant to the role. Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate City and Guilds or equivalent (for Catering duties only).
Experience
* Experience of either catering / cleaning / portering in a commercial environment.
