About the team The successful candidate will join a team of 20 knowledge management, information services, and innovation professionals, led by Nick Pryor, Director of Knowledge & Innovation. The KM and IS professionals drive quality and consistency by capturing, managing, and delivering up valuable knowledge resources; and work in harmony with the innovation professionals who provide the capabilities, tools, and processes to innovate and drive efficiency. About the role Freeths is looking for a Knowledge Systems Analyst to support the firm nationally, reporting into the firm’s head of Central Knowledge Management. The role will operate on an agile basis, with a mixture of home and office working, preferably located close to a Freeths office in the Midlands or North West. This is a new role complimenting a strategic firmwide focus on data and information assets; and comes at an exciting time as the firm builds on its Law Firm of the Year 2024 award and refreshes its strategy towards 2030. The Knowledge Systems Analyst is responsible for nurturing and advancing Freeths’ three major knowledge systems: the intranet (Freethspace), the knowledge portal (CKD), and the expertise directory (Know Who). This includes ensuring that the content, layout, and search tools deliver the best possible user experience and quick access to Freeths’ Best Practice. Key responsibilities Content Curation: Proactively review content on Freethspace and liaise with relevant Knowledge Lawyers and other Site Owners to ensure continuous improvement of knowledge resources. Facilitate and oversee the uploading of new materials onto the CKD; perform quality control and data cleansing of new records as necessary. Taxonomies and Structure: Consult with Knowledge Lawyers to refine and expand the CKD and Know Who taxonomies and ensure consistent and complete application of the same. Usage Tracking: Work with IT to build, maintain, implement and develop Power BI reporting capabilities and deliver up to Knowledge Lawyers and other Stakeholders according to requirements. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for the Knowledge Systems, including User Guides and Best Practice. Technical Development: Collaborate with IT to address functional issues with the Knowledge Systems; proactively propose to the Head of Central Knowledge Management potential enhancements to improve efficacy of the Knowledge Systems, and document requirements for the same. Your skills and qualifications Proficient in knowledge management software, databases, and tools (Sharepoint and related technologies) within a law firm or other professional services organisation. Qualification in Information Science or Business Analysis helpful but not essential. Exceptional attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
