Sunny Bank PRS are currently looking to hire a Catering Housekeeper who will be responsible for ensure the catering provision across the service. This role requires a driver who has experience in a similar role, working with vulnerable people.
Requirements
* To be responsible for the ordering/purchasing of catering provisions, and liaising with approved suppliers/which also involves actually going to purchase items in the locality, as well as ordering online.
* To be responsible for checking, rotating and maintaining stock levels and correct storage of fresh, dry, tinned and frozen foods.
* To be responsible for planning a nutritionally balanced, appetising and varied menu for the 21 residents and any day care clients at Sunny Bank, and any visitors from Sunny Bank P.R.S. Ltd’s supported accommodation (currently this is not within a set meal budget). This will include meals for special occasions, special diets (eg. reducing, diabetic, specific allergens) and alternatives for individuals from the main menu. The menus will consist of an appropriate balance of fresh items, those made by yourself, and pre-prepared ready made food, and reflect the diversity of our clients’ preferences in modern and more traditional foods.
* To work with Sunny Bank P.R.S. Ltd’s (Senior) Care and Support Assistants and clients in the preparation of food for the weekly menu.
* To work with Sunny Bank P.R.S. Ltd’s (Senior) Care and Support Assistants in serving the daily main meals for Monday to Friday, and in ensuring that the kitchen is left clean and tidy.
* To liaise and work with other Sunny Bank P.R.S. Ltd staff to ensure the continuity of service and maintenance of standards, regarding food provision, health and safety, cleanliness (using cleaning schedules) and food hygiene (including during periods outside of your work hours).
* To work with other staff in the checking of deliveries (of food and equipment) to Sunny Bank PRS.
* To assist in the ordering and purchasing of catering equipment/materials for Sunny Bank, and the supported houses (which may involve going to purchase items within the locality).
* To assist in ensuring the maintenance and repair of equipment in Sunny Bank’s kitchen and those at the 3 supported houses.
* To formulate and carry out any risk assessments, and health and safety procedures (e.g checklists) related to the kitchen(s) and catering provision, and instigate any necessary action required, and ensure that it is followed through.
* To adhere to all relevant food handling, allergens, infection control and health and safety legislation.
* To be responsible for the up to date maintenance of the:-
a) Food Health and Safety files and checklists.
b) Residents’ menu record.
c) Kitchen catering files, (including temperature and food
hygiene records).
d) Clients’ likes/dislikes food record.
e) Clients’ nutritional needs records.
Some of these records will be entered/stored
electronically.
* To assist in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating clients’ individual care and support plans, which includes participation in a 7 weekly client review meeting.
* To assist in the teaching of domestic skills and healthy eating principles & recipes to individual clients, or small groups.
* To ensure that re-cycling procedures are established and maintained within the kitchen.
* To participate in, and arrange the food for monthly social evenings at Sunny Bank, which will provide clients with experiences of new foods & themed evenings.
* To assist the Directors, Managers and other staff in the daily running of psychiatric services and accommodation offered by Sunny Bank P.R.S Ltd..
* To assist the Directors, Managers and other staff in maintaining the identified principles and standards of care and support of Sunny Bank P.R.S Ltd, and the company’s values of Collaboration, Creativity, Commitment and Thrive.

* This post is offered as a full time role
* Usual working week of 34 hours, Monday to Thursday 11am-6pm, Friday 9.30am-6pm
* Once or twice a month there will be a social evening which will involve starting later and finishing later (e.g 2.00pm and 9.00pm).
* You will also be required to work some hours on the Christmas & New Year Bank Holidays (which will be paid at an enhanced rate, of time and two thirds).
* Once every 7 weeks attendance at client reviews and staff meetings.
* Current hourly rate of £14.36, which is reviewed annually.
* You will receive at least 30 hours training per year.
* You will need to use your car to go shopping once or twice a week at a local supermarket within the course of your work, for which mileage will be paid, (and be able to drive the company people carrier). We will need to see and maintain copies of your License and Insurances.
* The following mandatory training must be undertaken with the company (and maintained where appropriate):-
- Food Hygiene Level 2 (minimum)
- Health and Safety Level 2
- Food allergens course.
- Kinetic Moving and Handling
- Appointed First Aid
- Safeguarding
* 190.5 hours (equivalent to 25 days) holiday per complete year (including Bank Holidays), starting each year from 1st April for a standard 34 hour week.
